Pixote Karaoke Bar

This bar has always been one of the dearest attractions of Porto's nightlife; it was a reference. Good times and fun were had there, a real party! Unfortunately, when returning with a small group of friends to have fun as in those times, we were very poorly received by rude and unresponsive staff to the business. We are older (50's), that's a fact, but we still know how to have a good time, and we have more money to spend. When a manager is bothered because someone tried to sit on an free bench instead of trying to create conditions to welcome customers who would make his business prosper, that manager doesn't care about the business. I foresee an unpromising future for this legendary place: it's outdated (the karaoke feels like a ZX Spectrum game) and "tired" in its attitude. RIP.

Ridiculous. Used to be a good bar, but now the staff is arrogant and racist. They didnt let me in for the first time because I was with a group of indian friends. The security guy gave us an excuse about a private party that was going on and than another staff member came to me and gave me a different excuse. I was a regular costumer, but of course after this experience, is my last time.

All these one star reviews are absolute nonsense, I’m assuming they didn’t understand the drinks system they had in place which was very understandable and easy to follow. A group of us went on our final night in Porto and had an absolute blast! Only downside is they just had one Akon track on the song list for one of our party. Great service, atmosphere was electric and decent drinks. 11/10.

Avoid this place. Arrogant and violent staff and security guards. My buddy and I have tried to enter this place around 1:30am and according to one security guard, my friend was not in shape, but my friend got there on his foot and could walk by himself, just had 2 beers, and they insisted he was not in shape until the moment the guards and the owner of the bar decided to yell with him and I started to film that. 2 minutes of recording, the staff pulled my phone down and kicked me and my friend. Our mobiles are broken and we are taking the videos to the police. Avoid this place!

A place that could have been fun, but the employees were stuck in prehistory, where friendliness and hospitality were never part of it. Starting with the arrogant person who controls the karaoke who must think he controls the customers by also treating them like little children, a poverty of welcome, of service, minds that are not enough for much else unfortunately. In fact, the reviews are enough to understand this.

Where to start? I'm giving this place 1 star because it's not possible to give negative points. When we entered, a guy said we couldn't get in because a friend of ours was wearing flip flops. This is very old school but it would be sort of fine if by the end of the night there wasn't girls (maybe dressed a bit more girly) also wearing flip flops. Then, they treat this place like a disco: they give you a card with minimum consumption and if you lose it, you pay 150€, drinks are crazy expensive and overall the place has a very Jersey Shore vibe. Then, they only pic your songs if they know you. If not, they completely ignore you (what kind of karaoke place is this?) THEN, they picked up on me because I was drinking tap water from my reusable water bottle (I had beers, wine and a bayleys, so it was not that I wasn't contributing to their wealth...) to which they replied: we also have water to sell. I mean... Jeez. And let's face it, they weren't being exactly polite talking to me about this. I put away the bottle and after a while forgot about it and accidentally put the bottle on top of the table (wasn't even drinking it was just on top). The same guy came at me SCREAMING: what is that bottle doing there? I said that I had enough of this place and that I was gonna leave. To which he of course started being even more arrogant. Never coming back. Absolutely horrible place.

Our experience was cut short because one of our friends was wearing sweatpants and wasn’t allowed in when we were already there. This kind of expectation doesn’t really meet up with the venue on itself, it’s a small, dark and has almost no capacity. It didn’t seem like a fancy bar that would be appropriate for that kind of dress code. The staff was also quite rude and non responsive to our song request. You have to pay a minimum 5€ for mandatory consumption and if you lose the card they give you are expected to pay 150€. Also, there are almost no tables, there could be 20 people sat in this room but one of the tables is already taken by the bouncer and occupies 4 seats including sofa seats. We were appalled by this, as Portuguese natives we never experienced this before. First and last time, just don’t go

A friend and I went to karaoke at this bar twice on our holiday. The first night (Friday) it was packed. They picked my friend after a while, and then when he went up to sing, one of the hosts walked up with his own microphone and took over the singing, so my friend didn't really get to sing his song. Meanwhile, they didn't pick either of my songs for hours, until I specifically went up and asked them if they might pick me. They then eventually picked one of my two songs after we'd been there for hours. We decided to give it a second chance and went back a second night (Tuesday). The bar was quite empty, with maybe 20 people there. We were there 3 hours and they did not pick either of us even once, while other people sang 3 or even 4 times. I even went up to ask if they would pick one of my songs and they lied and said i was next. But then I never sang (nor did my friend) and we finally gave up at 3:00 and left. Also, as a side note, they have a stupid policy where you receive a card when you arrive. The card tells you how much you have to spend on drinks, based on your gender. If you lose this card during the evening, they expect you to pay them 150€. Absolutely insane and feels kind of scammy. Would never go here again. Pity because it's a very cool venue with a great sound system. But they pick singers based on their feelings and mostly their friends. We don't know if it was racism (my friend is not white) or homophobia (I am quite obviously gay in appearance), but it was not a pleasant experience.
